Staff and Board
Staff
This section contains a listing of GNI Staff members. Click on any link to contact the corresponding Staff member or for a summary of the responsibilities that are assigned to him. For best results, write to the person that handles the area about which you are inquiring. If you’re unsure of whom to contact, start with Rick, Executive Director. If it’s not something that he can take care of directly, he will route your inquiry promptly to the person best suited to respond. File attachments are limited to 10MB.
Board of Directors
The GNI Board of Directors is always glad to hear from GNI members and others with feedback, suggestions, and general discussion about GNI policy and planning, development, strategy and objectives, organizational vision, etc.
Directors are not in the office, however, so they’re generally not in an ideal position to respond regarding day-to-day administrative matters. It’s best to contact Staff with inquiries about items such as membership applications and cards, event registration and attendance documents, Gathering volunteer assignments and scheduling, event housing, database updates, accounting and billing questions, submissions for publication in The Gay Naturist Informer, etc.
Please first contact the appropriate Staff member with any operational matter that he is responsible for. If you’re unsure of whom to contact, start with Rick, Executive Director. If it’s not something that he can take care of directly, he will route your inquiry to the person best suited to respond. File attachments are limited to 10MB.
In the rare instance that a Staff member may not provide a response that you consider timely, complete, and satisfactory, then feel free to contact a director to look into the matter.
Staff Members
The Executive Director deals with membership, change of address, Gathering registration, bus transportation, payment, refunds, housing, etc. If you’re unsure of whom to contact, start with Rick, Executive Director. If it’s not something that he can take care of directly, he will route your inquiry promptly to the person best suited to respond.

Joe, the editor of
The Gay Naturist Informer works with articles, photographs, advertising, club newsletters, etc.
Joe was born in Québec City, Canada and grew up in a small town in Ohio. After too many years in the cold and snow, he moved to Florida, where he soon learned the joys and freedom of going to the beach sans clothing. Although Joe was introduced to the social aspects of gay naturism in the mid-’80s, it wasn’t until the early ’90s that he decided it was more than a day at the beach, and he became involved in both his local club and GNI. Joe attended his first three GNI Gatherings (1996-1998) as a “civilian” and then decided it was time to put his talents as a videographer to work in producing the 1999 GNI Gathering video.
Since then, Joe has served as the Editor of
The Informer and as official photographer of The Gathering, having cataloged nearly 20,000 images so far (some of which are part of this web site). In his continuing quest to produce a quality quarterly publication that fellow GNI members find fun and informative, Joe is always looking for members’ input via articles and photographs. Help him out and send something to him today!
Joe serves on the Club Relations Committee.

The Elections Committee is very important to GNI because it facilitates the critical process of locating, presenting to the membership, and counting the ballots of the men who are qualified to run the business of GNI. The duties of the Election Committee are as follows: When a current board member’s term is about to expire, it is the Election Committee’s responsibility to let the membership know that a position is available. The Committee informs the membership that elections are to be held and requests interested members to send in their bios. After the bios are reviewed and potential candidates are identified, the Committee distributes the electronic and paper ballots, and then collects the data, tallies the votes, and reports the results to the Board. The Committee is entrusted with implementing protective measures to ensure the accuracy and honesty of the results. Any member in good standing that is not a candidate in a current Board election may be a member of the Elections Committee. The following individuals serve on this committee:

The Events Committee is charged with developing new nude events for men, apart from GNI’s signature annual nude Gathering in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania (USA). (For inquiries or input regarding the annual Gathering, contact the Event Coordinator or Gathering Committee.)
The Events Committee launched and continues to oversee a series of nude sailing cruises and all-inclusive, tropical resort experiences for men that GNI sponsors in collaboration with a gay travel operator. It has also taken the
Naked Getaway™ concept of nude extended weekends, introduced originally at The Gathering, on the road in collaboration with local gay naturist clubs and clothing-optional resorts. See
Events and Travel for details.
The Events Committee is always looking for new venues. A finder’s bounty is available under certain conditions for a lead provided by a GNI member that results in a signed contract for a major event. The following individuals serve on this committee:

The Gathering Committee is probably the most involved, time-consuming committee that GNI has. The mission of the Gathering Committee is to make the Gathering appear as seamless and effortless as possible to our attendees while providing the most fun and excitement anyone could imagine.
The preparation certainly is anything but effortless! It’s a lot of hard work and a big commitment in terms of time and effort. There are numerous meetings and discussions during the seven months prior to each year’s Gathering. Early in June, the Committee holds a pre-Gathering meeting in the Pocono Mountains where the final negotiations and arrangements are made with the camp owners for the August Gathering. Between June and August, there are literally hundreds of e-mails and phone calls dealing with every last detail of the Gathering with the other Committee members and our great staff of Rick J. (GNI Administrator and Gathering Event Coordinator) and our Gathering Committee.

The History and Naturist Education Committee writes and/or collects articles and photographs (and other items from time to time) that document who we are as naturists, define the gay naturist philosophy, and highlight examples of what male naturists aspire to be. We work with the GNI Archivist to document GNI’s journey. We further serve as a “think tank” that looks for new and better ways to educate our members, potential members, and the general public about male naturism.
From time to time, activities include helping to write brochures and web pages. We are sometimes called upon to provide information to the full Board of Directors. Members of the committee should possess some knowledge of the history of gay naturism in general and the history of GNI specifically. They should also have demonstrated, through personal example, an understanding of the gay naturist philosophy.

The Information Technology Committee (IT Committee) interfaces with the Vision and Strategic Planning Committee, the Executive Committee, the GNI Business Office, and the Gathering and Events Committees to review current technology and make recommendations for enhancing technology that will better serve the membership, the interested public, and directives set forth by the Board of Directors. This is accomplished by providing online services to the membership through an online directory and social-network site and by maintaining and updating the GNI web site to make announcements for our members and the general public regarding GNI-related events. The IT Committee reviews and recommends software and hardware that will best accomplish the organization’s goals while maintaining cost controls to best utilize the organization’s resources. The IT Committee oversees its own server, provides web site hosting services that are available to the public, standardizes software, and maintains current licenses on security software including anti-virus, firewall, and security certificates. While there are additional services that the IT Committee can provide, each idea is evaluated for ease of use, user interface, overall cost, and impact on the organization. Suggestions are either implemented or tabled until further enhancements or cost reductions are realized. The IT Committee encourages suggestions or comments from GNI members and the public. The goal of the Vision and Strategic Planning Committee is to determine the long-term vision for the organization and to develop strategic and business plans to achieve the desired outcome. The vision statement produced by the VSP Committee becomes the guiding principle for the development of long- and midterm strategic plans and bi-annual business plans. The strategic plans determine milestones for the organization, while the business plans identify opportunities and processes necessary to achieve the milestones.
By developing and stating clear goals and responsibilities in the business plan, the Board will be able to track progress, correct or re-develop weaknesses, and identify additional opportunities for growth and outreach within each of the other committees. Members of the VSP Committee should possess the ability to “dream big,” identify opportunities and risks, and deconstruct the vision into processes and milestones. Members should also possess communication, research, and development skills to ensure a fully functioning committee.
There are several non-Board, “at-large” positions on the committee that are open to GNI members in good standing. The following individuals serve on this committee:
Mark (chair)
Bill
Bob S.
